Thanks guys. Trying to make it custom, but keep it looking like a 65 Cyclone at the same time.

One of my goals on my build is to have a car that looks or feels like it could have been done in the late '60s - early '70s, added a few things that don't qualify I did to make it mine as well, air ride and a 5 speed are out of place, maybe even the low ride stance is not proper but then again there is no historic basis for my build. one thing I don't want is it to look brand new but have a little wear to it, may take a couple of years to get to that place  one reason I chose not to use a base/clear type of paint, those are great products and I am not faulting anyone else from using them just have a different plan (maybe a bit odd) on what I am doing, I love your '65 and the work you are doing making it unique and yours and I am really enjoying the build a lot, so many guys here are top-notch in what they do I am embarrassed to even post my work sometimes because I am such a hack but really like to see guys do it right.

Keep up the good work and keep sharing.

See Ya,
Mike

Nah, don't feel embarrassed, Mike. We're all bound by the resources we have. Growing older and staying in the game requires more resources. I'm tinkering away, doing what I can do with what I have. Great to see these cars resurrected from the boneyard and put on the road, regardless of condition.

From one hack to another
Admission is the first step of a 12 step process,,,, hang on I
think that's something else, nevermind.

You guys are all building great cars. I'm learning from all of you. I've been at it a while but never met anyone who cast their own intake manifold.

Add me to the hack list! I stumble forward on ignorance and brute force
(I’ve actually witnessed Fred “hack” on a car. He handles a Sawzall like a surgeon. With a strange unsettling smile emanating from that pale mug.... )

A true surgeon, I am not so good with a Sawzall, I tend to hack more than I intend to so I usually resort to the 4.5" angle grinder and now that I own one, the plasma cutter, as cheap as the one I bought was I highly recommend one to anyone at the start of a major car rebuild now, it will save you untold hours of time hacking stuff out, the only mishap I have had with it so far was enlarging the shifter hole and forgetting the airlines were running past there as well, found out if you cut too close (like right on them) the plastic airlines have a tendency to melt and let the air all out  :P luckily I had enough line on hand to replace them and it is relatively cheap and easy to replace :P
