‘64 Falcon Track Project
Re: 64 Falcon Track Car
Joe Ive been away from the game too long to contribute to questions.
Your engine is certainly built with better parts than mine but you may be at the upper end of the rpm range on the straights longer which will stretch parts for sure!
Changing the rev limiter is the easy way out.
Get all the cornering speed you can, and maybe a rear gear change.
Oil pans aren't for parts storage!

Hey Fred that makes perfect sense. I agree.SASSY wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:25 amJoe Ive been away from the game too long to contribute to questions.

Looking into possibly changing the gear ratio and I’ll work on my approach at the corners.
Gonna leave the rev limiter where it is…for now
Re: 64 Falcon Track Car
Finally got my hands on a GoPro and I’m learning to use it. Took the Falcon out to a local car meet and mounted the GP to the windshield. The image stabilization works great! Makes a shaking vibrating beast seem tame
And a video

Might do a track day soon so I’ll be able to show you guys all the twists and turns at speed.

And yes…the Comet will be getting in on the GoPro action when I get it out for a drive soon
Re: 64 Falcon Track Car
Man that sounds badd ! I ran it thru my stereo & it sounds like I was right there in the car with you! I took the lens off my dome light so I could screw a piece of flat metal to it to mount the gopro. had to extend it down lower so the rear view mirror wasn't in the way.
where did you mount yours?

Hey Johnnie!
I got a suction mount off Amazon (not the $50 GoPro one ) and stuck it to the windshield just under the rear view mirror.
I was looking for a roll bar clamp mount but couldn’t find a cheap one.

This one says fits up to a 2.5'' bar & cheap enough.

I bought a whole case full of attachments off ebay ,wasn't much over 20 bucks. but could probably use the wrist strap with its velcro. it has a handle bar mount, little small for you but the one above looks big enough. be cool to see you hands driving & shifting, might even help you notice how the car is acting while you're driving & too excited to notice all of it.

Re: 64 Falcon Track Car
Thanks John I think that one is a tad small. My roll bar is 2 5/8”. I was thinking of mounting it on the back window to get a view of the road and interior of the car.poboyjo65 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 1:38 pmThis one says fits up to a 2.5'' bar & cheap enough.

I’ll see how that one looks

Hey Joe! I saw your original post and when I went to reply…it was gone!
Anyhow thanks and I’m running an 8” rear with 3.80 gears. Might be too much for this track but it’s fun pulling hard out of the corners hehe

Re: 64 Falcon Track Car
Yeah, I pulled my post to do a double take on your tach. Looks like you hit 4th around 0:25, running @ 3K. A little hard to judge speed but looks like we are running about the same. I'm running 3.55 w/ shorter tire. Original owner built the roller for 4.11. Having some rattle loading the engine @ lower rpms w/o a downshift. Sometimes going w/ a taller gear isn't the way to go.

Next video I take I’ll show the speedo and tach too for reference.

Re: 64 Falcon Track Car
I like the dash cam location you have now. Not really a speedo guy
Old friend wanted to ride in the Comet. Told him to hold on just before I pulled out on the main drag. Big dummy had to lean over to look @ the speedo right as I hit 2nd. Almost threw him in the back seat

Re: 64 Falcon Track Car
Joe I tried mounting the camera once on the back window, didnt like it. couldn't reach it .need to be able to turn it off & on to save batteries & not record a bunch of boring film, then be dead for the good stuff.
I was just looking at my attachments,I think the velcro wrist strap would be great for a roll bar. it's plenty big,& has a pivoting base with lock.I saw the same one today in some of the cheap ebay package deals if you dont find a clamp on one like you want.
After hearing ole Skydog run I had to get mine out for a short romp.
