Yes, that is him, in fact I thought the picture you posted was from this year, he looks none the worse for the wear. :D
I kinda thought so when you described the trade for the car. even though it has been 10 years,I remember he came off as quite the horse trader (or mule trader) :) . I bought some stuff from him that year, a c4 from a 65 comet,,, hardtop I think,he said he had traded the comet & the boys who got it put a 4sp in it & didnt want the c4 so he got it back from them. & he mentioned some other stuff on the trade. he had a trunk full of parts for sale. He reminded me of a buddy of mine ,horsetrader from way back, that's why I remembered him & the car.

Did anyone talk to the guy with the black 64 Cyclone for sale?
I think I messaged him through facebook a few weeks ago to ask further details and never heard a reply....
May have been put off by me being in Australia :( Would love to hear thoughts from some who have seen it in the flesh.
Looks like a great couple days!
Cheers

His name is Chris and he's from Mississippi, I talked to him but only casually, he has a 64 Cyclone with 3 on the tree at home I was interested in a few years back but same kinda thing, the lead went cold. I'll see if I can find his contact info for you. I didn't really look at the car from a "I'm interested" standpoint so I can't speak to that. I know he sold a 65 at the Gathering to a guy from NY.

A success this year - thank you all so much for carrying on the tradition. Mike would be proud! He was there in spirit!

He was definitely there in spirit and was remembered fondly in more than one conversation. I've said it before, but as long as I'm alive and able there will be a Comet in Pigeon Forge the first weekend in June. Hope you're well.

Everyone,
I wish i could have been there.
It sounds like a great time.
I gave a passing thought to trying to make it for at least one day but, with Jan's passing, it it difficult for me to get someone to care for things around the property.
Then, just when i thought things were worked out Covid bit me.
No matter how you are vaccinated or how careful you are it can find you.
It was really no fun.
Maybe next June.
Stay safe everyone,
Dave

We missed you Dave, I still have the wheel you gave me in my shop, and it reminds me of you often. It's not always convenient for folks to come but there is always next year, until there's not. Condolences on your loss.

OK, I guess I'm too new at this to be in the loop. I had no idea there was a Comet Gathering. I'm not far, in Georgia, and will make an effort to be at the next one. How do I get info? Thanks!

Congrats on another successful gathering! A grandson's HS graduation had priority this year and next year a granddaughter's, so shooting for a return trip in 2025. Thankyou for the stories and pictures. I'm still after the NHRA to change the dates for the Hotrod Reunion at Bowling Green to better coincide with the gathering
