Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Looks great Doug!!
Just a guess but I am thinking you don't have a HOA ??
When you sand and buff just a thought. If you mask off the windo/door openings, trunk, and engine compartment it will save you a lot of time cleaning up.
Car is really coming along nice!!

Lou: we have an HOA but I was here building cars in my driveway before most of the neighbors were here. People & kids stop to chat and ask questions. I know how to work clean here too so its all good. I built the house to be able to build cars. I finish the cut/buff tomorrow and will move it in and take it off the rotisserie and build the sustension out to make it a roller.Lou's Comet wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 8:11 amLooks great Doug!!

Gosh that is beautiful. What color is that? I love DCC Concept but I am considering BC / CC now. So torn. What is your cut and polish schedule? I am approaching this point here soon.
Fantastic work.

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
Jim: It is a custom color I had my paint guy make for me.
Rootsey: I appreciate the work you are doing to save that car. Some guys wouldn't bother. My process is detailed in my build thread but the cut/polish process is 2K sandable primer finished with 400G, Color wet sand three times 800G, 1000G and 1500G. Then I compound buffed three times, using graduated compounds up to glaze and finished off with a product called Rejex. I had to quit and call it as I have been doing body/paint for over 2 years now and perfect is the enemy of good enough.

Wow, looks great Doug.
Wet sanding and buffing is prob the most rewarding part of the paint process. Always enjoyed it and also happy it is done so I can start reassembly !! lol
Really looks good

Macs or ecklers should have it. I moved my battery to the trunk and fabricated a box to install all my terminal posts and relays-ect.Joe Travers wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 2:49 pmHey Doug!

Worth stopping production, & just that much more paint drying time. Didn't you call that ''Doug's Real Red''? perfect name ! it's all looking beatiful!

I installed what appears to be the same kit but by Track or Street years ago. It really is great, you'll like it when setting up your alignment.DesertRat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 3:20 pmLast minute mod on front suspension. I installed the opentracker camber mod kit for our cars while on the rotisserie. It stopped production while I installed it but now I can start installing the front suspension---------------that will be my next series posted----------

Re: Doug's 65 Cyclone build
I decided to build out the suspension and brakes while it was on the rotisserie for ease of work. Man, that does make it easy!
Below is a bit of an edited version of how it went. I didn't use any of the original parts. Everything is new aftermarket and took me three days to install to this point. I may run the new hard lines I need for the front but it is almost time to set the car down and make it a roller. It's getting heavy on the rotisserie and I'm ready to move to the next step.
