I'm starting a thread on my 65 Caliente hardtop. I havent done much yet. I did some patching in the trunk but didnt finish. I got the urge to ride so I put the tank back in after a flush, patching & coating of red-kote on the inside & spay on bed liner on the out side. I still have some work like gutter seal replacment & some more holes in trunk floor





I had some extra driprail chrome that I put on the inside because it looks to me like it should be there

the 225 horse 289 runs good so I'll save it but I have a 347 to go in it for now along with a 4sp. I just pulled the motor & 3sp so here we go

Good stuff. If the trunk is any reflection of how the finished product will be, this will be a joy to see in PF next June. And a burger for good measure.

that trunk was my office last winter I may mini tub it so I didnt get forward of the tank pocket with any sanding. still undecided.

Thanks Albert . I put on the back seat cover & the front is at the upholstery shop. hes making inserts for buckets out of them. They were really nice Albert ,Thanks again

I'm taking my engine bay down to bare metal & I have a question.

I am looking at rattle can etching primer from eastwood. any body have any better suggestions? I dont have a spray gun . will this stuff hold on as good as etching primer from a gun?

John;yes,that rattle can self etching primer works great! I have used it on a few projects,even used it to seal aluminum panels before paint!! You trunk area looks great,nice job! ROY.

I have used it on small parts and it works very well. For larger things I prefer the self etching primer from Seymour. The fan spray on the Seymour head seems to work better for me on larger areas. JMHO.

yea may check at your local paint supply or parts store that sells paint. many body shops keep aerosol etching primmer on hand for small jobs and my local orielly carries it for them they also mix paints and sell professional grade produts behind the counter. but ive noticed they always push the products out front unless you specify.. mite save you some shipping even if they have to order it..

I did my engine bay that way as well - used Eastwood's surface prep/cleaner then hit it with the eastwood chassis black primer, then chassis black. Having about 1900 miles on mine since the build this spring I can say it holds up well - I have made plenty of messes .

I hate to tell ya but that's a GM distributor. It goes in the back of the engine not the front.
