Master body bolt kit

Post by the goon »

Howdy,

Question for everybody. Our '64 Caliente is in the restoration process at the body shop as we speak. The car has been blown apart, stripped to bare metal, and the rust repair is happening now. I have been looking for a master body bolt kit to replace all of the original ones. Is there a source for this? I've been looking, but with no success.

Thanks,

Mark

You could try this vendor: http://www.amkproducts.com
Just remember that ‘64’s had mostly fine thread fasteners and ‘65 and laterhas coarse threads.

Jim,

Thanks for the reply. I did check with amk: they have a kit for the '66-'67 Comet.

I'm wondering if the AMK '64-'65 Mustang master kit would have enough matching bolts/screws to make it worth a try, then either use some of my original ones/try matching at the local fastner shop?

Yeah I would use the 64-65 Mustang kit. It’ll have most of the stuff you need.
I’ve taken apart Mustangs and Comets and all the bolts are the same.

Joe,

Thanks. I've just ordered the kit from AMK. Should be here in a week. Here's a pic as we speak;

Joe,

Thanks. Drove it around for a few months, couldn't stand to see the rust amy more. Convinced the minister of finance (shmbo) it was time to get the restoration process going, and she agreed :shock: :D .

Decided to go with the AMK '64/'65 Mustang set. Should work for the majority of it.
